In Biblical foundation for life and the context of creation, the firstborn child holds a special place in the family, often symbolizing strength, leadership, and inheritance. The concept of the firstborn is deeply rooted in the Scriptures, where the firstborn male was considered the head of the family and the heir to the father's blessings. This position carried not just material inheritance but also spiritual significance, representing the first fruits offered to God.
The Lord's command to consecrate the firstborn to Him in Exodus 13:2 underscores this importance: "Sanctify unto me all the firstborn, whatsoever openeth the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of beast: it is mine."
Nevertheless, the firstborn is not only entitled to blessings but also to responsibilities, which often necessitate protection through prayer and declaration. The firstborn bears the burden of family expectations, spiritual assaults, and societal pressures. Therefore, it is crucial to pray fervently and regularly for our firstborn children—both sons and daughters.
As a first-born daughter, it is essential to recognize the weight and responsibility that comes with being the eldest child in the family. Our position as the first-born often entails bearing a significant mantle of leadership and example-setting for our siblings. While this role may sometimes seem overwhelming or unfair, it is crucial to understand that it is a divine assignment tailored to our capabilities and strengths.
Over time, the realization of this inherent responsibility has deeply resonated with me. I have felt compelled, for years now, to advocate for the spiritual well-being and empowerment of first-born children. This calling has inspired me to initiate a movement encouraging parents to fervently pray for their first-borns, recognizing the pivotal role they play in shaping family dynamics and setting the tone for their siblings. Let me share six important reasons why we MUST PRAY specifically for First Born Children.
Six (6) Reasons Why You Need To Pray For Firstborn Children
Spiritual Leadership: Firstborns often carry the mantle of spiritual leadership within the family, making them prime targets for spiritual attacks. Praying for them ensures they remain strong in their faith and leadership.
Inheritance of Blessings: The firstborn traditionally receives the family’s blessings and inheritance. Prayer helps secure these blessings, ensuring they are not lost or stolen.
Protection from Spiritual Warfare: Because of their significant role, firstborns may face unique challenges and temptations. Praying for their protection is crucial in safeguarding them against spiritual warfare.
Fulfillment of Divine Purpose: Each firstborn has a divine purpose. Prayers help them to stay aligned with God's plan for their lives and to walk in their calling.
Breaking Generational Curses: In some families, generational issues or curses may affect the firstborn. Through prayer, these curses can be broken, and blessings can be released.
Strength to Carry Family Legacy: As bearers of the family legacy, firstborns need prayer for wisdom, strength, and resilience to uphold and pass on the family’s values and faith.
The act of praying for first-born children is not merely a gesture of support but a profound acknowledgment of the unique challenges and blessings they encounter. It is a call to parents to prioritize the spiritual growth and development of their first-born, nurturing them to fulfill their individual gifts and purposes beyond societal expectations or norms.
As a first-born myself, I understand the significance of this posture or stance to raise an altar of daily prayer, as well as the impact it can have on shaping the lives of first-born children. By fostering a culture of prayer and support for first-borns, we can empower them to embrace their identity, fulfill their potential, and navigate the complexities of their roles with grace and purpose. Let us unite in prayer for all first-born children, guiding them towards a future defined by authenticity, purpose, and fulfillment.
I am deeply thankful that my parents, Rev. Dr. Oswen Cameron and Rev. Cora-Dian Cameron, continue to pray for me and my siblings every day, hoping that our lives will make a positive impact for God, humanity, and the world. They frequently express their pride in me for leading the way and setting an example for my siblings. Sometimes, I wish one of my siblings, especially my brother, could have been the first-born, but that's a topic for another blog post titled "The older sibling every first born wishes they had." On the whole, my siblings Adele, Phoebe, and Brian occasionally express their gratitude for me being the eldest, which can come across as both heartfelt and slightly teasing - if you know, you know [IYKYK]. We share a very close bond, and I've played a nurturing role in their lives, paving the way for them while also finding my own path in the world. All of this is thanks to God's grace and my personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This is why I am so passionate about first-borns - we are not only blessed to bless others but also to bless ourselves.
Now that the foundation is set, I am a teacher, and I think it goes without saying, we First Borns are just systematic, we have to set the background, let us get ready to ensure these six (6) reasons are covered and fervently handled at the place of prayer and intercession. Here are twelve (12) prayers, based on Biblical Scriptures from the OLD and NEW testaments, to prophesy over First Borns from the womb until eternity - xoxo Miss JelC

Especially if you are a parent.
Every firstborn holds a vital role within the family structure, both spiritually and physically. Regular prayers, declarations, and affirmations not only protect them but also ensure they walk in the fullness of God’s blessings and purposes for their lives. Remember you are connected to a Spiritual Leader with a divine inheritance of blessings, who needs protection from spiritual warfare in order to fulfillment divine purpose with strength to carry on your Family Legacy - such is the honor of the FIRSTBORN SON or DAUGHTER.
If you're not a First Born, that's alright, you're not forgotten, you have your own special place too in the Family Legacy.
If you're a First-Born reading this, pray it over yourself in the first person or in the voice of your parent toward you - I know that sounds odd, but sometimes we have to take our own destiny in hand and rewrite our stories. Every parent was not cut out to be a parent and so we extend grace to them. Your destiny still matters no matter how you got here ... the fact that you are here, you have a purpose to fulfill for God, others AND for you too!
God bless you!
Much love, grace and peace,
